Insurance Authorization / Surgical Scheduler

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Insurance Authorization / Surgical Scheduler to join our client’s team in East Brunswick, NJ 08816. In this role, you will help patients by handling insurance authorizations and scheduling surgeries. You’ll work closely with doctors, staff, and insurance companies to make sure everything is in place for a smooth surgical process.

Pay Rate: DoE
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9 am – 5 pm

 
RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • To adhere to and support the mission, vision, values, goals, philosophy, objectives, policies and procedures 
  • Receive and report on assignments 
  • Obtains and/or assists in obtaining all commercial insurance, workers’ compensation and automobile accident authorization 
  • Obtains and educates providers on all commercial insurance, workers’ compensation and automobile accident insurance policies and protocols to perform recommended services 
  • Coordinates procedure dates at ASC/Hospital 
  • Arranges all co-surgeon/assistant surgeon schedules for in-office E/M as well as procedure dates 
  • Creates surgical booking sheets, provides to ASC/Hospital and triages any discrepancies 
  • Informs receptionist to re-verify insurance benefits for any discrepancies of coverage 
  • Assists billers with any payment denials which state they are related to prior approval being unattained 
  • Follows all federal, state and regulatory guidelines to maintain compliance 

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT AND WORK AIDS 
Possesses a working knowledge of all office machines including but not limited to: 
  • Telephone System 
  • Copy Machine 
  • Facsimile Machine

  • Effective communication skills with patients, staff and physicians 
  • An interest in developing a continued self development and professional growth 
  • A preference for seeking time saving techniques in job performance with relation to the professional staff’s need 
  • Ability to work with people in a polite and tactful manner 
  • Exhibit confidentiality and good judgment when aware of such information requiring discretion 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS 
  • Capable of lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance and 50 pounds without assistance 
  • Considerable stooping, pushing and pulling are part of the job activities 
 
WORK RELATIONSHIPS 
  • Reports to the Front Desk Supervisor and Office Administrator daily 
  • Communicates and coordinates with all staff 

QUALIFICATIONS 
  • High school graduate 
  • Experience with EMR system preferably ECW
  • Medical office training and/or experience 
  • Ability to operate computer
