Credit Associate – Chain Accounts
Jersey City, New Jersey · Accounting/FinanceWe are seeking a Credit Associate – Chain Accounts to join our client’s Credit Department in Jersey City, NJ. This role is responsible for managing accounts receivable for a portfolio of chain accounts and ensuring timely resolution of past-due accounts.
Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $21-22/hr
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 am – 5 pm

Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $21-22/hr

Key Responsibilities:
Application of Payments
- Accurately and promptly apply customer payments not posted by brokers
- Obtain payment information from multiple sources including bank statements (ACH), checks, e-checks, and customer portals
- Post payments to Accounts Receivable (AR) and scan deposit summaries to shared drive
- Identify and follow up on skipped invoices, short-pay invoices, and deductions
- Resolve other past-due AR issues
- Daily review of past-due invoices (30+ days)
- Follow up with brokers, customers, or Key Account Managers to resolve issues
- Prepare and submit dispute packages for deductions or short pays
- Coordinate with other departments for dispute validations
- Send statements to customers upon request and prepare backup for invoice adjustments
- Utilize collection agencies as appropriate
- Assess credit continuation for customers who consistently pay late
- Work with supervisor to determine account HOLD status
- Cancel orders as needed and follow up with KAM & Director of Sales regarding credit issues
- Respond to email and phone inquiries promptly
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, including VLOOKUP
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Prior experience in credit, accounts receivable, or collections preferred
